James E. Heppelmann

President and Chief Executive Officer, PTC

James (Jim) Heppelmann is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PTC and is responsible for driving PTC’s global business strategy and operations. Previous to his appointment as CEO, Heppelmann served as PTC’s President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for managing the operating business units of the company including R&D, marketing, sales, services, and maintenance. He also serves on PTC’s Board of Directors.

Heppelmann serves as a member of the FIRST Executive Advisory Board. Heppelmann has championed the growth of FIRST Robotics Competition teams by introducing FIRST to many of PTC’s 27,000 customers. He has also promoted the expansion of FIRST internationally, where PTC has a large customer and employee base. This includes China, India, Romania, France, Germany, and Russia.    

Heppelmann attended University of Minnesota, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on computer-aided design. Heppelmann is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at the University of Minnesota College of Science & Engineering.
