2014 Operating System Support

The Control System software we’re releasing for the 2014 season has been tested and will be officially supported on Windows 7 and Windows 8. The software has not been certified to work on Windows XP. This doesn’t mean it won’t work, just that we can’t guarantee it, and we won’t be able to provide anything beyond cursory support if you decide to use it.

I’ll blog again soon.

Seeing as FIRST supports many of the same values as Free and Open Source Software, as well as the costs of Windows, is there any possibility we will see Linux support in the future?

I'm certain that this has been considered (and most likely won't create any problems), but will it work with the Windows 8.1 update.
Also this accounts for the programming software as well? (WindRiver, Labview, ...)

Yes, we are also doing testing on Windows 8.1. This support includes both the utility software (imaging tool, etc.) and the programming environments.

will macintosh osx be supported

The NI software (Driver Station, Imaging Tool, LabVIEW programming environment) and the WindRiver software will not work on OSX. The Netbeans environment for programming may work on OSX but is not thoroughly tested and not officially supported.
