FRC Competition Field for Autodesk Inventor

The Autodesk Inventor field models posted by Autodesk after Kickoff had an error in the way the Pyramid was constructed. Autodesk has fixed the error and posted a new zip file for Autodesk Inventor 2013 and a STEP version on their Student Community page. The updated files can be accessed at http://students.autodesk.com/?nd=kitofparts_view. (NOTE: You must be logged into your Autodesk account to access the Parts Library)

To filter for the 2013 field models only,

  1. Select 2013 in the “Year” dropdown menu.
  2. Select “Competition Field” in the “Category” dropdown menu.
  3. Click "Go".

Once you have downloaded the files you can double check the dimensions of the Pyramid using Tools > Distance as shown. In the example below, the tool confirms that the top of the pyramid is 120” from the floor.

We thank Autodesk for fixing the issue and apologize for the error. Thank you for your understanding, and good luck!

FRC Forums

The FIRST FRC Forums (http://forums.usfirst.org/forumdisplay.php?f=23) have had the ability to register new accounts temporarily disabled due to the high number of SPAM attacks on the site. Once measures to prevent the flooding of the forums with SPAM have been put in place, the registration system will be reactivated. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Everyone may still view the forums, and you may post if you have an existing account, but new accounts can’t be registered at this time. (Update on 1/21/2013: Please see FRC Technical Questions for FIRST Forums Update)

FIRST Future Innovator Award

Don’t forget about the FIRST Future Innovator Award! Submissions close on Thursday, February 21st. You can read about the award – and how the winner is recognized - in Section 6.5 of the FRC Administrative Manual (http://frc-manual.usfirst.org/viewItem/2#6).

I’ll blog again soon.

Comments

Frank, we had the same issue with our forums over the summer. We setup a simple registration question that is random. We ask what our FRC team number is, key mentors names, etc. It has worked to stop all of the spam.

couldn't the forums just have a password, or a code, or maybe you have to sign in.
