Recommended update for LabVIEW 2012

National Instruments has released an update for LabVIEW 2012, which is the version of LabVIEW included with the Kit of Parts this season. The update is not required, however teams using the Robot Simulator will see improvements in the performance of sending the simulated camera image back to the Dashboard.

Additional Update on the Kit of Parts page

Be sure to check out the FRC Kit of Parts resource page for important updates, including Beginner and Advanced LabVIEW training sessions.

I’ll blog again soon.

Who won the safety animation?

I was very disappointed there was no mention of the Safety Animation contest (or even safety, period)during the Kickoff. Autodesk announced the cancellation of the Design Excellence Awards only a few weeks before the Kickoff, and now this let-down. Not a positive message for all the students who worked hard on their animation projects.

The team drawings link from the FRC Manual site doesn't work.

The LabView Serial Number provided with the kit of parts currently is not being accepted is there any fix that is currently known.

The link on the competition manual page for the Arena Layout and Markings (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Progra...) is bad.

Hi Locutus 494, this link has been fixed. Thanks for pointing it out! Happy building, Rose @ FRC.

I am trying to locate a single drawing that shows the dimensions of the arena. Page 5 of the "Arena Layout and Markings" file shows only the location of the tape lines on the field. I think it's really cool that I can build all of the elements with the other drawings, but not sure where to place them. Is there a drawing that I'm missing?

This is probably a stupid question: I intend to program our robot in C++. Do I still need to use the Labview development environment?

You do not need LabView. However, you still need to install some components off of the LV disk.

Where are the field CAD drawings?
Have they just not been released yet or can I just not find them?

what is the key to decrypt the LabView update?

When are the models going to be posted to seemed like they would be available on Saturday. When will we see them?

Is it legal to climb up the corners of the pyramid/tower, are you allowed to take disc up to the top of the tower and dump them into the top, what is the furthest extension you can have on an arm (if there is one) to go up on the robot?

Can the robot be in contact with, but not supported by, more than 2 levels. And is the robot in contact with a level only if it is touchiong a bar in the specified level.
